Letter from the
Moderator
Dear
Sisters in Christ,
Welcome
to Saint Andrews
Presbyterian Women. I
am honored and humbled
to serve as your
Moderator for the
2007-2008 year. I pray
the coming year will
offer many opportunities
to grow in our walk with
the Lord, enjoy
fellowship with
wonderful women, serve
our Church and beyond,
and LOVE one another.

But the
fruit of the
Spirit is
love, joy,
peace,
patience,
kindness,
goodness,
faithfulness,
gentleness
and
self-control.
Against such
things there
is no
law…Since we
live by the
Spirit, let
us keep in
step with
the Spirit.
Galatians
5:22-23, 25 |
Earthly
fruit is the result of
something - planting
seeds, watering,
fertilizing, pruning and
praying for sunshine.
When the fruit appears
and blossoms, doesn’t
that make a gardener
happy? We can enjoy the
fruit and share it with
others.
Spiritual
fruit is also the result
of something. But it’s
not something we do.
This fruit is produced
by the Holy Spirit.
When we surrender to God
the fruit grows and
blossoms in our lives.
Like earthly fruit, when
spiritual fruit blossoms
in our lives don’t you
think God, the Master
Gardener, is pleased
with the harvest? Isn’t
He pleased when we enjoy
the fruit (by finding
joy in difficult
circumstances, feeling
peace when our world
seems so stressed and
unpeaceful) and when we
share the fruit (by
loving our neighbor,
being patient with our
family, being kind to
the cashier in the
grocery store, being
gentle with the crying
child in the nursery)?
Verse 25
says since we live by
the Spirit, let us keep
in step with the
Spirit. Spiritual fruit
blossoms when we live in
submission to God. The
fruit doesn’t just
appear because we try
harder to produce it, it
appears when we yield to
God and allow the Holy
Spirit to work in us as
we walk through life
with God, our Lord and
Savior. This coming
year our theme will be:
Living a Bountiful
Harvest for God, Growing
in the Fruit of the
Spirit.
As
Moderator I pray we will
live the harvest and
share the bounty with
our family, friends,
neighbors, and strangers
we meet in our daily
lives. If we walk with
God, yield to Him, and
share the fruit we can
inspire others to do the
same.
Blessings
in
Christ,
