Infant Nursery
Volunteers sign up on a once per month basis.

Located in room 29 in the
preschool wing, the infant nursery provides
loving care for all infants up until they are
walking. SAPC employee Dot Kohlbach is the
primary caregiver in the infant nursery and is
assisted by volunteers from the congregation.
Once a child is dropped off, he/she may remain
there through multiple Sunday morning offerings.
The infant nursery is equipped
with cribs for napping children. Parents will
be given a pager in case they are needed.
Toddler Nursery
Volunteers sign up on a once per

Located in room 22 in the
preschool wing, the toddler nursery provides
loving care for all toddlers until age 2. SAPC
employee LoKiel Miller is the primary caregiver
in the toddler nursery and is assisted by
volunteers from the congregation. Once a child
is dropped off, he/she may remain there through
multiple Sunday morning offerings.
Parents may bring a snack or
drink for the child and directions on when and
how to provide it. Graham Crackers and water
are provided by the church. Parents will be
given a pager in case they are needed.
2-year-old Nursery

Located in room 21 in the
preschool wing, a child enters the 2-year-old
class upon his/her second birthday and remains
in this class until the school year for which
he/she turns 3 by the October 13 cutoff. This
class is staffed by at least two SAPC volunteers
who volunteer on a once/month basis. Once a
child is dropped off, he/she may remain there
through multiple Sunday morning offerings.
On nice days, the children are
taken on the playground adjacent to the room.
Snacks such as crackers, goldfish, or Cheerios
and water are provided.
3-year-old Sunday School and Children-in-Worship
SS Teachers volunteer on a
semester basis (September-Jauary and
February-May).

CIW
Volunteers are on a once per
month basis.
Located in room 18 in the
preschool wing, a child enters the 3-year-old
class in the school year for which he/she turns
3 by the October 13 cutoff. These offerings are
staffed by at least two SAPC volunteers. Once a
child is dropped off, he/she may remain there
through multiple Sunday morning offerings.
Sunday School is offered from
9:45-10:45. 3-year-olds study the same subject
as the Pre-Ks and Kindergartners. The topics
are on a five year rotation. Along with a
lesson, age appropriate crafts and games are
used to reinforce the topic.
Children-in-Worship is offered
during both the 8:45 and 11:00 service.
Children may be brought to the room prior to
either service or left there from Sunday School
for the 11:00 service). Children may also be
brought to the room after the Children’s Sermon
in the 11:00 service. The topics are the same
as those studied by the Pre-K through 1st
Grade Children-in-Worship program. A lesson is
taught along with age appropriate crafts and
games. A snack is also provided.
Pre-K Sunday
School
Sunday School is staffed by at
least two SAPC volunteers who volunteer on a
semester basis.

preschool wing, a child enters the Pre-K class
in the school year for which he/she turns 4 by
the October 13 cutoff; depending on when the
child begins Kindergarten, he/she may spend 1-2
years in this class.
Sunday School is offered from
9:45-10:45. Pre-Ks study the same subject as
the 3-year-olds and Kindergartners. The topics
are on a five year rotation. Along with a
lesson, age appropriate crafts and games are
used to reinforce the topic. Children need to
be picked up at the conclusion of Sunday School
and taken to worship for the Children’s Sermon.

preschool wing, a child enters the Kindergarten
class in the school year for which he/she begins
Kindergarten.
Sunday School is offered from
9:45-10:45. Kindergartners study the same
subject as the 3-year-olds and PreK’s. The
topics are on a five year rotation. Along with
a lesson, age appropriate crafts and games are
used to reinforce the topic. Children need to
be picked up at the conclusion of Sunday School
and taken to worship for the Children’s Sermon.
1st
through 5th Graders
Volunteers are on a semester
basis (September-January, and February-May).
There is one volunteer for each rotation who
actually teaches the class. There is also one
volunteer, a shepherd, for each grade level who
goes to all rotations with the class.

These five classes use a
rotational Sunday School program offered by
Potter’s Workshop. Each week, the classes study
the topic in a variety of different methods.
Depending on the topic and schedule, a child may
attend 3-5 of the rotations for a specific
topic.
Children may identify their
classroom using the bulletin board at the bottom
of the stairs or the announcement board on the
nametag table. The classrooms used for these
grades are:

Time Travel, (Room 3,
downstairs): Generally a game or Bible
knowledge activity

Holywood (Room 4,
downstairs): Generally a movie and popcorn
with discussion of the topic.

Imagination Station (Room 5,
downstairs): A creative way of looking at
the topic through experiments, cooking, etc.

Doodlestop (Room 6,
downstairs): Making a craft to teach the
topic.

Connected to Christ (Room xx,
preschool wing): Using computers to teach
the topic.
Pre-K through 1st Grade
Children-in-Worship (CIW)
It is staffed by 3-5 SAPC
volunteers who volunteer once per month.

This class is offered following
the Children’s Sermon during the 11:00
service. It is an opportunity for the group to
have their own worship service.
CIW begins in room 6 with a
snack. The children then move to room 5 for
songs and the lesson. Then, it’s back to room
6 for the craft. Often the class ends in room 4
with videos. On occasion the entire class is
held in room 4 with a movie for the lesson.
During the summer months, Camp
Saint Andrews is held instead of CIW. This
is a less formal offering where children are
read a book, given a snack, and then have
centers such as blocks, coloring pages or
playdough for play. It is held in room 6.
2nd
Grade Preparation for Worship
Two volunteers who volunteer on a
monthly basis lead this class.

This class is offered during the
*8:45 service and following the Children’s
Sermon during the 11:00 service September
through May. During this class, children learn
about all aspects of the worship service,
including but not limited to the Lord’s Prayer,
Doxology, Apostle’s Creed, communion, and
baptism. This class concludes with the students
being given their own NIV Bible.
*If there are enough volunteers
and interest, the class may also be offered
during the 8:45 class.
Children-in-Worship Activity Bags
Volunteer provides activities
that go into the weekly bags.
Volunteer Now!
Age-appropriate activity bags are
available in the Narthex for both the 8:45 and
11:00 service. The Preschool bags are targeted
for up through Kindergarten; Elementary bags are
for 1st through 5th
graders. The bags contain age appropriate
materials based on the scripture for the Sunday
along with crayons, pencils, paper, and a book.
Bags should be returned to the “used basket” in
the Narthex after the service.
