Myth
vs. Truth on Stewardship

Myth:
Saint Andrew’s Endowment Fund supports the
church’s Annual Budget.
Truth:
Actually the Annual Budget is completely funded
through the congregant’s gifts/pledges/tithes. SAPC’s
Endowment Fund pays out 5% of its total value
every year to support facility
upkeep/improvement and Missions.
Myth:
The Stewardship Committee and church leaders
know how much money I give.
Truth:
At SAPC we keep pledges and gifts highly
confidential. The Stewardship Committee is told
who has turned in a pledge card, for follow up
purposes. The one person that knows the
particulars of gifts and contributions is our
Business manager. (He is not a member of
SAPC).
Myth:
Stewardship is optional.
Truth:
Most people feel that giving their money back to
God is something they should try to do.
However, in the bible there are many examples of
tithing being a command from God! (Please refer
to Biblical
Principals page).
Myth:
Tithing is based on how much I have left over
each month.
Truth:
God very clearly states that tithing should be
“first fruits”. In other words, tithe first,
then you may use the rest of God’s gifts for
yourself.
Myth:
Once I make a yearly pledge, I can’t change it.
Truth:
Yes, you can! We encourage everyone to increase
or decrease their pledge as their circumstances
change. Keep in mind that this is a Holy
commitment and that God will bless you for your
faithful giving.
Myth:
God and His church don’t need my money as much
as I do.
Truth:
Truthfully, all money belongs to God! He
commands us to care and love one another. There
are so many needy people that are supported
through our giving, both locally and
internationally. Can you truly say that you have
less than these individuals?
Myth:
Saint Andrews has a pool of money that funds its
staff salaries, programs and facilities.
Truth:
No, all salaries, bills, and programs are funded
by your financial support.
Myth:
There are so many other people at Saint Andrews
who have more than me, let them give more.
Truth:
The issue is not what others have or do, but
rather your faithful response to God’s blessings
in your life. He has given us life abundantly,
what do you give back?
